Through a friend I met Alberto Dana, who had previously competed in numerous physique shows and had the willingness, drive, and "tools" to give me that edge I had sought after. After an initial assessment with Alberto in December 2014, I decided right then to work with him as my trainer and nutritionist... in fact, we had already set a date for me to compete in an NPC physique show - just 14 short weeks down the road. Alberto's techniques in his programming, TAILORED to MY body needs, opened my eyes to all the different muscles and muscle groups that were lagging and which exercises would bring about the most change. Coupled with a defined nutrition plan, where at first I had no clue how macronutrients worked for me and against me, I had the tools needed to succeed. In 14 weeks I trimmed down from 175lbs and 15% body fat (pictured left) to 157lbs and 7% body fat (pictured right) by "stage day". 14 weeks... that number and the meaning behind it, coming from 15 years of changing my lifestyle yet knowing there was no way I could look like THAT guy on the right... in 14 weeks. The drive I had, the motivation was there, but Alberto gave me the tools to transform. In fact I will be competing again in May 2016 and, although I no longer live in the same area as Alberto, I work his same program and will be more than ready to take stage again, this time with my focus to actually place.

The most value I gained working with Alberto is that it's not all about lifting heavy weights 7x/week and eating 5,000+ calories... It's about assessing yourself honestly from the beginning, learning about your body - meaning that there is no "1 size fits all" exercise or nutrition program - and trusting the entire process from start to finish. I learned that the number on the scale is not the indicator I need, rather understanding what makes up that number is where the value and transformation lies. And lastly, Alberto has been a great friend of mine who I still communicate with on my progress and goal updates. He set me on this path and no matter who I work with going forward to realize future successes at a competition level, I know I would not be doing so without Alberto's help and guidance. I appreciate everything he's done for me and if I could speak to anyone in the area who asks, I would say, "See Alberto... his job, his focus is on YOU when you're with him. His success is based on YOUR success".

Alberto, thank you for being my trainer, nutritionist, and friend. I still can't believe I'm on this path you set me in place and decided to treat it as a life journey rather than just a destination. Each day I wake up feeling stronger and more alert than ever before. You gave me the tools and told me what I do with them is my choice... I believe I've made the best life choice with those tools, and I continue doing so.

I started training with Alberto during my pregnancy. It was important to me to make sure I was physically ready for labor and to try to maintain a healthy weight during my pregnancy for both the health of me and baby. Alberto really tailored my workouts and programming to my needs (and limitations!). I’m still amazed at how much strength I gained in those 9 months of pregnancy. I was able to workout all the way up to 1 week before labor.  It felt good to be so pregnant and yet still feel so mobile, active, and strong. I’m 100% convinced I had a smooth labor because of the training Alberto was programming for me.

After my baby was born, we started training again once I was cleared by my doctor. Alberto has a great way of explaining exercises so you actually learn the way your body functions and moves. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the anatomy of the body. In just 9 months I was able to lose all the baby weight (25lbs) and was lifting and squatting personal records. By the time my baby turned a year, I had lost 7 additional pounds. 

Alberto is motivating, encouraging, friendly, approachable and yet still manages to hold me accountable. Throughout the time I’ve trained with him I was always under the impression he was just physically training me but he’s also helped me with the necessary mindset shift. Visualizing the body that I want for myself and learning how the person who is at the weight I desire to be eats on a daily basis. 

If you want a trainer who’s really smart about programming for special needs (like a pregnancy or an injury) and someone who will challenge you but also make it fun, Alberto is the trainer for you!!

After two surgeries over 3 years (reconstructed knee and reconstructed ankle) I began to practice poor eating habits, developed a sedentary lifestyle and lost self-confidence. After training with Alberto, I have since regained balance and strength with a proper exercise regimen and a balanced diet. By building up my body slowly and developing a solid foundation, I have lost 36 pounds in 5 months and regained my self-confidence. I now run 40 miles a week and I have successfully reduced 17% of my body fat in just 8 months. During med school, I injured myself during a CrossFit workout and decided it was time to try something different. I wanted to boost my overall performance while reducing the risk for injury. This is when I decided to work with Alberto to jump-start my workout regimen. We started with a 6-week resistance-training program that was structured around building strength around my weaknesses and improving my cardiovascular endurance. Within that time frame, I completed a 5K run injury free, reduced 3.5% body fat, and felt better than I ever had in my life. Alberto understands that training a person is not merely about getting the physical stuff correct, though he does that each time. It is about listening and watching. I trained with Alberto for six months. He is a great trainer; he always gave me the best routines and pushes me to be the best I can be.
